LACMA PRIVACY POLICY

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (the Museum) makes every effort to ensure that all of the transactions that occur on its Collator Website will be secure. All credit card information submitted to the site is encrypted using “Secure Sockets Layer” (SSL) software, which is the industry standard for information security, so it cannot be read as the information travels over the Internet. In addition, credit card information is not stored permanently on the Web server. The Museum will retain your Collator Account information for our records and this information will not be shared with third parties. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is strongly committed to protecting the privacy of its online guests, customers, members, donors, and friends. We do not collect personal information about individuals—such as their names and postal and/or email addresses—except when it is knowingly provided by such individuals. We believe that maintaining privacy on the Web is very important and that informing our visitors about the types of information we collect and how we use it is crucial.

HOW LACMA USES THIS INFORMATION

LACMA uses the information you provide to personalize the site so that we can better meet your needs. Occasionally, LACMA may share the information you provide when you become a member online with other non-profit organizations whose products and services might interest you. If you would prefer not to have your information shared in this way, please send an email message containing your name and postal address to web@lacma.org. The Los Angeles County Museum of Art never shares with third parties any financial information you provide when purchasing a product or membership or making a donation.

LACMA EMAIL POLICY

We regularly send emails to our members and registered visitors to provide them with highlights of upcoming exhibitions and programs. WEB ANALYSIS WITH GOOGLE ANALYTICS

This Website uses Google Analytics, a web analysis service of Google Inc. (Google). Google Analytics uses cookies, i.e., text files stored on your computer to enable analysis of website usage by you. Information generated by the cookie about your use of this Website is usually transmitted to a Google server in the United States and stored there. On behalf of this Website’s owner, Google will use this information to evaluate your use of the Website, compile reports about Website activities, and provide the Website’s operator with further services related to Website and Internet usage. The IP address sent from your browser as part of Google Analytics is not merged with other data by Google. You can prevent storage of cookies by appropriately setting your browser software; in this case, however, please note that you might not be able to fully use all functions offered by this Website. In addition, you can prevent data generated by the cookie and relating to your use of the Website (including your IP address) from being collected and processed by Google by downloading and installing a browser plug-in from the following link: http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=en.

SOCIAL PLUG-IN FROM FACEBOOK

LACMA uses social plug-ins from Facebook.com, operated by Facebook Inc., 1601 S. California Ave, Palo Alto, CA 94304, USA. The plug-ins can be recognized by way of the Facebook logo or the supplement “Facebook Social Plug-in.” For example, if you click on the “Like” button or leave a comment, the relevant information is transmitted directly from your browser to Facebook and stored there. Furthermore, Facebook makes your likes public for your Facebook friends. If you are logged into Facebook, it can assign the invocation of our page directly to your Facebook account. Even if you are not logged in or don’t have a Facebook account, your browser sends information (e.g., which websites you have called up, your IP address), which is then stored by Facebook. For details about handling of your personal data by Facebook and your related rights, please refer to the data privacy policy of Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/policy.php. If you do not want Facebook to map data collected about you via our Websites to your Facebook account, you must log out of Facebook before you visit our Websites.

SOCIAL PLUG-INS FROM TWITTER

With Twitter and its Retweet functions, LACMA uses social plug-ins from Twitter.com, operated by Twitter Inc., 795 Folsom St., Suite 600, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. If you use Retweet, the websites visited by you are announced to third parties and associated with your Twitter account. Details about handling of your data by Twitter as well as your rights and setting options for protecting your personal information can be found in Twitter’s data privacy policy: http://twitter.com/privacy.

PRIVACY STATEMENT FOR THE USE OF PINTEREST

On our Website (including both collator.lacma.org and lacma.org), LACMA uses social plug-ins from the Pinterest social network, which is provided by Pinterest Inc., 808 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94103, USA (“Pinterest”). If you load a page that contains such a plug-in, your browser will make a direct connection to the Pinterest servers. The plug-in thereby communicates log data to the Pinterest servers. This log data may include your IP address, the address of websites you have visited that also contain Pinterest functions, the browser type and settings, the date and time of the query, and your manner of use of Pinterest and cookies. More information about the purpose, extent, and further processing and use of the data by Pinterest as well as your rights and options for protecting your privacy in relation to this can be found in the Pinterest data protection notices: https://about.pinterest.com/en/privacy-policy.

Similarly, to the extent that non-personal information is combined with personal information, we treat the combined information as personal information for the purposes of this Privacy Policy. The Website also uses cookies and other technologies to remember personal information when you use our Website, the Services, and applications. Our goal in these cases is to make your experience with the Website more convenient and personal. You can disable cookies in your browser if you so wish. As for most websites, we gather some information automatically and store it in log files. This information includes Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, browser type and language, Internet service provider (ISP), referring and exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and clickstream data. We use this information to understand and analyze trends, to administer the Website, to learn about user behavior on the Website, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We also require you to use a password to access your Accounts and Account information. Our physical storage facilities and servers are also held in a secure location, with access granted only to those employees and contractors who have a legitimate business need to access personal information.
